Facebook’s Step to Business Success

Facebook has just released their latest Facebook Steps to Business Success.

If you want to use Facebook to promote and grow your business, it’s important that you understand this information – especially the difference between your Facebook Account and Facebook Fan Pages.

I know – things change so fast in the world of Social Media that it’s almost impossible to keep up on. (I’m as guilty as anyone – I am following the steps and setting up my Taking Aim Marketing Fan Page Right Now! Here’s the link to LIKE – http://www.facebook.com/takingaimmarketing)

Important – Fan Pages are for business and have fans that LIKE them. Facebook accounts are for personal accounts and have FRIENDS. It’s important to understand that Facebook for business is different than Facebook for personal use and you need to understand the difference if you intend on using Facebook for your business.

Creating a Facebook Fan Page Video (this is a video I did a few months ago – some things are probably outdated (go figure!), but you’ll get the idea if you watch this video and read the Facebook Steps to Business Success.

To your success!

Adding a Slideshow of Images to Your Website

There are many different ways you can display images on your website.  One of the ways we like to display images is by using a Slideshow or Rotation of Images in the sidebar to draw attention to the images.

The Video below will show you how to display a slideshow of your images on your website as a widget using the Nextgen Gallery Plugin Widget.

Watch the video below to see how easy it is.

How to Setup Your Facebook Fan Page

Facebook Fan Pages

Question: What is a Facebook Fan Page and Why do I need one?

Answer: A Facebook page specifically for your business, to separate your business from your personal facebook profile page. People will be able to find your business on Facebook and LIKE it, rather than sending you a friend request. Fan pages allow people to follow what your business is doing, without you having to approve them as a friend or see what they are posting on facebook. Your personal facebook profile page is used to share pictures of your family, friends, vacations etc., but your fan page is used to share information with your business contacts.

After you sign up for a Facebook Fan page, you will be able to post on your personal facebook page as yourself, and on your business Fan Page as your business – without the two overlapping. Business contacts will see what you post as your business and friends will be able to see your new puppy!

Plus: You are limited to 5000 Facebook friends. Fan pages are allowed unlimited Likes.

The video below will show you how to set up your Facebook Fan Page.

After you set up your Facebook Fan Page, don’t forget to claim your Facebook Username and put a Facebook Like Box on your website! (Both videos are on the Video Tutorial Page to Show you how.)

This is Video #1 in this Facebook Series.

How to Add a Photo Gallery to a Web Page

The video below will show you how to create a photo gallery, add images to the gallery, then insert the gallery into any web page or blog post.

The request of the customer was to put some images on the home page of his website that showed some of the projects he has sandblasted for past clients. He also wanted a way for his website visitors to contact him without leaving the home page of his site.

The video above will show how I created a simple photo gallery using Nextgen Gallery Plugin, then inserted the gallery into the home page of his website. It also shows how I embedded a contact form into the home page of his site, below the video.

Stats No Longer Working on Your WordPress Website?

There has been an update to WordPress.com Stats plugin.

If your stats are no longer working, you will need to install the latest version of the stats plugin, called Jetpack and link it to your WordPress.com account.

Below is a video showing you the simple steps to install the new version of the plugin and get your stats working again.

Note:  There is no sound in this video – only the steps to install and link the plugin.

You will need to link the Jetpack plugin to your wordpress.com account. This is not your login to your website, but the login you created when your website was first set up. This is the one you set up in order to get the API key you sent me.

If you don’t have your wordpress.com login, please follow these steps:

  • Go to WordPress.com
  • Click to Forgot password link
  • Enter your e-mail address (this is most likely the e-mail you used before your website e-mail was set up)
  • Have wordpress.com send you the forgotten password or a link to reset it.

After you have reset the password, login to wordpress.com, then follow the steps in the video above to install the Jetpack Plugin for your stats.

If you need help installing the plugin, please e-mail me for help, but I will need your wordpress.com account login username and password. Please send them both with your request for help.

How to Add Paypal Online Shopping to Your Website

Accepting Credit Card Payments on Your Website using Paypal

Paypal LogoPaypal is the fastest and simplest way to add online shopping to your website.

It is very easy to set up an account and be able to take credit card payments online, without all the extra hassle of setting up a merchant account, opening up a new bank account, setting up a payment processor, paying for a secure shopping cart – etc. etc.

Paypal offers all these things in one. It is simple to use if you understand the process.

Here’s the process:

  • You sign up for a Paypal Business Account
  • You Create Paypal Products (entering a title, description, price etc.) – called Buttons.
  • Paypal gives you an HTML Code for each product (button) you create
  • You copy and paste this HTML Code into your website to display that Product Button.
  • Website Visitors shop on your site, and click on Add to Cart Buttons
  • Products are added to your Paypal Shopping Cart on Paypal’s Secure Servers
  • Customers are able to checkout on Paypal’s Servers using all major credit cards.
  • Money collected (less paypal fees) are deposited into your Paypal Account.
  • You can then transfer, request a check, get a Paypal Debit Card and more to access your money.

In the video below, I show you how I add actual products to a web page.
